Deiva Marina and the Coast
Deiva Marina in all seasons.
A calm coastal area ideally located between the Cinque Terre and Portofino, Deiva Marina is an excellent departure point to go on excursions and tours along the entire Levant Coast. Situated between the mountains overlooking the sea, the city is divided into two parts: a small historical center with its picturesque streets and church from the XVII century, and the beach which is more modern and more lively. The beach of sand and colorful pebbles of various sizes, depending on the winds and the sea conditions, is wide and safe and would be especially appreciated by families with children who decide to stay at the Clelia holiday apartments. During the summer, it is possible to rent lounge chairs, beach chairs and sun umbrellas in the seaside establishments. Easily accessible by car or by train, Deiva Marina is located in the center of an important network of trails that go from Sestri Levante to the Cinque Terre National Park and allows you to fully live the sea and nature by practicing a number of outdoor activities like surfing, windsurfing, fishing and diving with respect to the sea, and walks, trekking, cycling, mountain biking and motorcycle tours with respect to the interior.
Deiva Marina in winter
: anyone who hopes for great things will probably be deceived. As with many coastal villages that are full of life in the summer, the winter is a time of rest for everyone. Many places are closed and even nature seems to stop. Many trees lose their leaves, the sea is often agitated, the beach is deserted and sometimes it rains and there is only a little wind. The temperature, however, is milder and the sand is soft and clean, leveled by the wind. There are seagulls and the sunrise and sunset over the sea has wonderful colors. Certainly the coast during the winter is not for everyone, but rather for those who appreciate clean air, solitary walks, the sound of the waves and the sounds and smells that are difficult to discern when there are many people. Excursions to the neighboring areas are always available, the trails are open and the Cinque Terre, Portofino, Genoa and the Golfo dei Poeti are exceptional destinations in any season. The prices of our apartments are really low in the winter. ADSL, Wi-Fi and telephone are free and those who can work at home can also do so here.
What to see around Deiva Marina and the Cinque Terre
. Visiting the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Ligurian Coast of Levant is an interesting experience since it is a very special area and, in many cases, unique in the world. Staying in Deiva Marina or in our apartments in Riomaggiore and Corniglia, you can easily visit:
The Golfo dei Poeti
, a magnificent natural cove with the small cities of Portovenere, le Grazie, Lerici, San Terenzo, Fiascherino, Tellaro and the city of La Spezia.
: Located on a promontory between the extreme east of the Cinque Terre and the entrance to the Gulf of La Spezia, this small city is part of the list of World Heritage sites compiled by UNESCO. With its small port, is castle in the shape of a pentagon and the San Pietro church built in a panoramic position on a rocky foothill, Portovenere is a departing point for many excursions and offers a dazzling landscape.
In front of the village are the three islands of the gulf: Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto. A regular boat service allows you to visit the islands and provides a connection between Palmaria (the only one of the three islands that can be visited freely all year long) and Portovenere or Lerici.
The Lunigiana and the Val di Magra
: Lunigiana with ancient human settlements extends between the province of Parma and Toscana. We suggest you visit Luni, Castelnuovo Magra, Fosdinovo, Fivizzano, Sarzana and Pontremoli.
Versilia, Garfagnana and the Apuan Alps
: a few kilometers from La Spezia, but already in Toscana, Versilia offers the possibility of night entertainment and shopping while Garfagnana offers the landscape of the hillsides and mountains with large green spaces and old cities that are well preserved. The Apuan Alps with peaks that arrive at meters high, extend parallel to the sea and offer opportunities to visit the marble quarries, the Gorchia and Vento caves and some other smaller ones.
The coast of La Spezia
: between Deiva Marina and Levanto, the cycle path and the pedestrian road are located in the old steam train tunnels. This connects Framura, Bonassola and Levanto, but is also accessible from Deiva Marina from the provincial road, by train, by bus or by micro-bus from the Hotel Clelia Logis d'Italia.
The Val di Vara, the Val Graveglia, the Val d'Aveto and the Val Fontanabuona
: a green interior, rich in typical products, ancient cities, mines and quarries.
The Gulf of Tigullio
: from Sestri Levante to Portofino with the cities of Cavi, Lavagna, Chiavari, Zoagli, Rapallo and Santa Margherita Ligure.
: with the microscopic village of San Fruttuoso, Camogli and Recco, it is the gastronomic capital and the land of focaccia with cheese and the trofie, Sori Peive Ligure and Bogliasco.
The city of Genoa
: that extends from Nervi to Votri, with its historical center, the Old Port, the Aquarium and the museums.
