Portofino

Portofino Park: to speak only of the city without also dedicating a little space to the Portofino promontory would be truly minimalistic. Seeing it from the sea, circumnavigating it by boat and discovering the deep rocky gorges and Mediterranean vegetation between Camogli, San Fruttuoso Portofino and Santa Margherita is, without a shadow of a doubt, an unforgettable experience. With a little more effort, but just as satisfying, the same route can be taken on foot on the historical trails that lead to solitary places that put you in touch with nature.

The Marine Park: A large part of the maritime area that surrounds the promontory is a protected area where it is prohibited to fish or approach with boats, therefore facilitating the reproduction of the species that live in these waters. The bottom of the sea at this point is very deep and only experienced divers can adventure there to see the coral formations which are strictly prohibited to touch.

Portofino city: constructed by the ancient Romans in a natural cavity and therefore protected from the violent maritime storms that, at times, hit the coast in the winter. For many years, it was a small fishing port that served as a refuge for passing vessels. Formerly called "Portus Delfini", Portofino was slowly discovered by artists and writers who decreed the international fame that it enjoys today. Being frequented in the last century by actors, politicians, athletes and magnates of all types is a fascinating goal, but not reached by all.

How to get to Portofino: if the objective is to visit the city, you can get there by car and leave it in the underground parking, or more easily, go by bicycle or motorcycle. You can also get toe Santa Margherita by boat, by bus or on foot. The distance from Deiva Marina to Santa Margherita is around 35 km by car or train. The company's ships make the connection year round from Camogli to San Fruttuoso. The company in the tourist season runs between San Fruttuoso, Portofino and Santa Margherita.

Visit Portofino Park and the surrounding area: The most beautiful thing is to go on the trails with suitable shoes and a hat to protect you from the sun. A network of trails crosses the park in different directions even though the main route is this: Santa Margherita, Portofino San Fruttuoso, 1 hour and 30 minutes, San Fruttuoso San Rocco Camogli, 4 hours and 30 minutes. Visit: Camogli. San Rocco, San Nicolò Capodimonte, Punta Chiappa, the San Fruttuoso Abbey, the Christ of Abysses, the Portofino lighthouse, the Brown castle, the small port.

The best season: You can visit Portofino and the park at any time of the year since the climate is pleasant even in winter. However, to avoid the heat of summer and the winter rains, the months of April, May, June, September and October would be the ideal time.
